Women’s Health Test Panels

Vaginitis Test Panel

Vaginitis is an inflammation of the vagina. This is a fairly widespread condition in women and is a result of inadequate balances of vaginal bacteria. . In some cases, reduced estrogen after menopause and skin disorders may also lead to vaginitis.

There are several types of vaginitis that are commonly differentiated: bacterial vaginosis, yeast infection, and trichomoniasis. They are caused by different pathogens — bacteria, fungi, and parasites.

Candida Test Panel

Candidiasis is a fungal infection mostly caused by the yeast Candida albicans. There is a variety of Candida species that may cause infection in people. Although Candida normally lives on skin surfaces, in the mouth, throat, gut, and vagina, without causing much of a problem, its overgrowth and pH changes may cause an infection.

If Candida infection is left untreated, it may enter the bloodstream and spread throughout the body, causing sepsis which in turn can cause damage to internal organs, including the kidney, heart, or brain.
